Importance of Scholarships | Especially for Classes 1 to 10

Importance of Scholarships | Especially for Classes 1 to 10

India’s approach towards education is very straightforward, just like other Asian countries, “Study hard & you’ll get everything you want.” While this is very true, mindlessly burying yourself in the school’s curriculum without exploring the outside world isn’t a very good choice either. But rather, a very ignorant one.

If more students cared to explore more opportunities outside their schools, they might find a few things which might benefit their future much more. Like scholarships!

The Education Department of India has already put various scholarship opportunities in place for students to take advantage of it. But the lack of students who take advantage of it & parents who encourage their kids towards it is….dejecting. But that issue arises from the ignorance towards the benefits of a scholarship & that is what this blog will be solving. So here are a few reasons why scholarships are advantageous for students, especially those between classes 1 to 10.

Financial Assistance

Inflation has caused a massive rise in the prices of every basic commodity and tax rates have been raised on almost everything as well. The education sector is no exception to this unfortunate situation. The prices for teaching our kids have risen to an unbelievable amount, while the quality of education still seems to be the same.

Every parent wants the best for their kids & that starts with getting them educated in a reputed institution. But the cost of such institutions are also great. That’s where scholarships come in handy! Monetary rewards provided by scholarships can be very helpful when saving for your future education. Thus, providing significant assistance in procuring finances.

Skill Development & Discovery

I will not sugarcoat it, getting scholarships is difficult. They can be your light in darkness, but that is exactly why student scholarships are difficult to obtain. The journey of preparing for these exams is an arduous one, but they are also significant in one’s development.

Oftentimes students have to push themselves when preparing for competitions, whether they are related to sports or education. This particular environment is actually a breeding ground for discovering new skills & developing pre-existing ones within yourselves. Pushing yourself past your limits only results in a few things: You Grow or You Don’t!

Access to Higher Education

If you got the opportunity to study in places like Oxford, Harvard, IIT, MIT, would you go for it? Probably yes! But now you must also be thinking about the biggest determining factor as well: Money! A lot of such opportunities & dreams get buried under the burden of responsibilities. When jumping high to reach the sky, you also need to check the ground that supports your run. And scholarships are the roads to reaching such goals!

Due to the countless benefits that scholarships provide, students’ access to higher education is also opened up. Whether it is due to the financial aid that it provides or the inclusivity of the underprivileged, under the rules of the Government of India, any who holds a scholarship is one step closer to fulfilling their academic goals.

Future Job Opportunities

So far we’ve learned that scholarships are a testament to your skills & dedication towards achieving it. But these boons & the discipline one has to maintain in order to achieve it is also visible to others. Even to your future employers.

A lot of scholarships provide internship or workshop opportunities which are a great way to gain some practical experience. And such places are also a great place for networking with like minded people & gaining some mentors who can offer personalised assistance.

Opportunities For Underprivileged & Underrepresented

As per the estimations from multiple sources, the current percentage of Indian population that falls under the category of poor is anywhere between 2.5% to 29%. I know, that is a huge margin, but that is how severe the condition of our country is. Based on the way of living the margin can shift from left to right.

The Education Department of India took note of the issues of the underprivileged in India & came up with the solutions on how to provide them with the equal opportunities as others when it comes to getting a chance at having a successful life.

There are many scholarships available specifically for the underprivileged & underrepresented people in India such as Women, minorities, people with disabilities etc. Such scholarships are aimed at increasing the inclusivity & growth opportunities for people falling into such categories.

After Thoughts

Not everyone wanting for a scholarship will receive one, but that should not discourage you from striving for it. Even if you fail to achieve it, your hard work that you’ve put in will always be with you. And that is what’ll increase your chances of getting it the next time. I hope you’re leaving this blog feeling a little more inspired towards getting a scholarship, so that’s why in our next blog we’ll tell you ways you can get a scholarship.
